For the 26th year in a row, Battery Dance Company will host the Downtown Dance Festival in Lower Manhattan. This year, the Festival returns to Chase Plaza and Battery Park for seven straight days of performances and a full roster of 19 companies from New York and abroad. As a special feature, this year’s DDF will close each day with an exercise in audience participation. Professional teaching artists from the performing companies will invite kids of all ages onstage to learn a segment from the pieces showcased, blurring the line between audience and performer. No prior experience necessary. And it’s all Free!

Inside, graffiti and the work of local artists decorate the walls. Bartenders serve drinks in corn-based biodegradable cups under solar-powered lights. Out in the courtyard, a generous space houses eco-friendly picnic furniture, while the food truck crafts a mouthwatering, Latin-inspired menu. The solar-powered awning keeps the Outpost running for community markets, outdoor movie nights, artist exhibitions, and more.
