Every month people who work in the environmental field meet up for a drink at networking events known as Green Drinks – its a chance to mix with other like-minded people, share info and make friends. Many people have found employment, developed new ideas, made business connections and had moments of serendipity. It’s a force for good and it’s spreading around the world.

GreenHome hosts a special forum on green building case studies. Speakers discuss some of the most anticipated green buildings under construction in New York. This is an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest innovations in sustainable design and construction, as well as green building practices at work. A community-oriented, volunteer-run organization, GreenHomeNYC’s mission is to facilitate the adoption of sustainable building methods and materials by owners of small residential and commerical buildings in New York City.

The forum will be held in the “Shapes of Space” exhibition alongside the installation “Untitled 2002 (he promised)” by Rirkit Tiravanija, which consists of a partial reconstruction of Austrian architect Rudolf M. Schindler’s environmentally sensitive residence in Los Angeles and explores the relationship between public and private spaces.

Thinking about installing bamboo floors? Come learn about these and other uses for bamboo in your home and/or business. Guest speaker will be Dino Bagatelas of Smith & Fong Plyboo. Smith & Fong was founded by two friends in the spring of 1989. Since then they have dedicated their efforts to developing new uses and applications for bamboo. With imagination and technology bamboo is being manufactured into flooring, paneling, and plywood they call “Plyboo” which is their trademarked term for laminated bamboo.
